Sometimes I Wonder ….

May 13th, 2008 Posted in All About Me No Gravatar

In case you didn’t know, I am very lucky that my new family rescued me from the RSPCA when I was 16 weeks old. I love my new family; they treat me like I have always been one of the family, but sometimes I wonder who my real Mum and Dad were.

You see, lately The Big Unit (TBU) has been telling everyone he thinks I must be crossed with an elephant! I mean, it’s not my fault I am such a big, handsome boy is it? Apparently TBU and Her Highness (HH) were told I am a Red Heeler Cross, but the lovely people at the RSPCA, (Hi Eve!) could’t tell them who my Mum and Dad were.

You see, I seem to just keep growing.  When I was younger, (I am nearly 32 weeks old now) I had a very little tail. Now my tail is really long and has a kink in it! And let me tell you, sometimes my legs ache really badly.

TBU & HH have taken me to see the dog doctor, and he told them he believes I have something called Panosteitis. Was my Dad really an elephant or was he a Great Dane? I was only supposed to ever grow to 23kg,  but I am already 30kg and still growing. The dog doctor told HH he thinks I still have another 6 inches or so to grow! HH is still recovering from that good news !

The doctor gave HH some painkiller to give me – I think she felt like taking them herself !  He also gave her some steroids to give me too. While these tablets helped ease the pain, they made me sleep a lot as well as needing to pee constantly. I found this very hard to deal with when I was so sleepy all the time.

He also told HH that I shouldn’t walk, run or jump very much. HELLO ! I have possums in the roof, garage, and in all the trees around my home, as well as some really pesky cat neighbours. GET REAL !! AS IF !!

Now when you are my size you can’t afford just to lay around all the time. We are talking major flab potential !!! Not to mention, the boredom factor.

So now that TBU has gotten over the idea that Mum had a brief encounter with an elephant, can anyone make some suggestions who they think my Dad might have been?

Charlie

    Crikey Charlie
Wonder what you’re crossed with. We have enough trouble trying to figure out what our Lucy is crossed with.
When you find out let us know ok.
We think Lucy might be part dale part Irish part kelpie but then again who knows. Our pinky says her mum must have been a good sort!!

Hope you’re feeling better soon and we totally understand about those horrid possums.

    Hugs and tail wags

Hi Charlie. We don’t know if you are part elephant, but you sure are a cutie. Just think, the bigger you get, the better you will be able to protect your family!
