Tennis Ball Peeling & Possums …
October 11th, 2008 Posted in At Home, YouTubeToday I would like to show you how to do one of my favourite things.
I call this “The Fine Art of Tennis Ball Peeling”.
Here’s one I prepared earlier!
I had a very disturbed night last night. Two possums decided they were going to have a fight on the dodgy balcony outside my lounge room at 4am this morning. Of course you can imagine how much I wanted to get out there and stop them!! After all, it is one of my duties being an honourary member of Rusty’s Squirrel Patrol …
Anyway, today they decided to to have a go at each other in the garage. It seems these two were born in the garage and now they have grown up a bit, they have decided to come back to claim there home turf for mating season. It’s a bit like teenagers fighting over the best bedroom in the house. In our garage, the best spot is above the Hot Water Service ’cause it’s cozy!
Here is possum number one:
and here is possum number two:
Those photo’s were taken after their little spat!
Here is a moving picture of when they were together. Unfortunately all the real action was over before I could get out the back door and down to the garage. If you have the sound turned on, you will be able to hear some of the scary noises they make when fighting. Believe me it is worse when they are both making that noise in the middle of the night.
If you look closely, you can see the battle marks on the possum on the left.
Sorry the quality of that moving picture is very good – the lighting conditions weren’t the best!
Why My Bi-Peds insist on letting nature’s creatures other than me live in my yard I’ll never know!

Thanks fur the lesson -
Woo really need to have marinated it longer so as to deal with that chewiness!
Your possums are way khuter than ‘my’ possums – woo would REALLY have an issue with them fur being fugly!
Good work!

Hi Charlie
What a great post. Your really good at peeling those balls. I like to make a mess like that with plastic cloths pins. I grind them down until there’s nothing left but the wire & a pile of plastic.
I would like a chance to get at those possums. We don’t have them where I live, only squirrels.

Those possum creatures are freaky! was that hissing??? I don’t think I would be going anywhere near those when they are in a mood!

Hey Charlie that is exactly what Louie does with his balls. He doesn’t even like playing with the ones with fur on them.
Those are some funny looking animals.. Our Possums look different than that..
Glad you liked Callie’s ear.. She was impersonating you..

Hey Charlie. The possum I chased out of my backyard hasn’t been back and it’s been a month now. I hope that means he’s found a new place to terrorize.
That tennis ball looks like it’d be lots of fun. Pity they don’t make them in my size.
Keep up the good possum Patrolling

Hi Charlie! Mom says your possums are a lot cuter than ours. Ours look like big rats. She still wouldn’t want them fighting on the back porch or in the garage. I say good job! Keep up the patrolling!

Woah, those possums are nasty looking critters! I’m glad we don’t have them fighting all around our house!
