I’ve been thinking lately … in fact I’ve been daydreaming lately …  

Every bone I’ve received recently has been a bit small. They just seem to vanish with one crunch. If only there was a bone worthy of my awesome gnawing ability! One that lasted for more than a few seconds … 

Then I found this ….

Well I must admit, I have mixed emotions tonight. A part of me wants to jump for joy, and another part of me feels lower than a snakes belly.

I think The Kid might have felt the same as me, ’cause he was a bit whinny for most of the day.

Deep down, I think we both knew something was going on.

We got very close during the time we spent together. Hey! In the end I even let him sleep next to me on My Lounge!

Today he starts his new life in his ForEver Home with his lovely new Bi-Peds. I know he is just going to have the besterest time. I hope I taught him enough things in the short time we spent together, ’cause I know he sure taught me heaps!

See ya Max. Max! Oh yeah, did I forget to tell you? His name is Max now, but he’ll always be The Kid to me!

Hey check this out. I am an Internet Celebrity over at Licked Toys. How cool is it to be recognised for my fantastic Stuffie Destroying skills! 

I don’t mind the rain really, except when it wets me! I also don’t like being trapped inside for too long (unless I’m snoozing of course) and that usually happens when it rains and rains and rains and ….

It got so bad today, The Kid really started to get to me. So much in fact, I even gave in and let him share My Lounge with me! What’s more, I even let him sleep on My Lounge with me!

D’ya wanna know what drove me the most crazy? He kept wanting to use the computer all the time! He said he was just checking to see if anybody was interested in taking him to their forever home. I think he just wanted to look at photo’s of me!!

Of course we did go outside for a little while … well … you know … sometimes you just HAVE TO GO outside! So we made the most of it while we were there.

Does being one year and four days older really make you feel that much older? I’ve been feeling really tired since my birthday .. do you think maybe I over did it? I just don’t feel 100% lately …

I did learn one new thing … I now know how Kangaroos can move so quickly and jump so high!  It all comes from their tail!  Fair dinkum … half a piece of Dried Roo Tail and I was moving fairly quickly … and I don’t mean running either!  I mean … how do you say it … I think I cleaned out my insides in record time … quite often!  So be careful if you ever get offered some Roo Tail!

I overheard TBU and HH mention the V-E-T word today. Apparently they are a bit concerned about my back legs .. and something about my hips! Is “bow-legged” a bad thing? I think I heard someone say that about me yesterday.

Perhaps thats why my back and legs ache when I go for a walk!

In better news, Moo and I went to Redhead Beach early this morning. It was lots of fun, except the wind was really strong and it hurt when it blew the sand into me really quickly. I sorta lost interest in being there after a while, ’cause it was hurting to walk on the sand …

When we got home from the beach, TBU decided he was going to clean the pool (’cause it really needed it) and guess what? I was actually allowed into the pool yard! Even though THAT TREE still hasn’t been removed, the back fence has now been patched up … which means I am now allowed in there! Yep more yard to patrol!

It’s a good thing I got an early night last night ’cause this morning I was actually allowed outside for an early morning patrol without being on the leash. That means I was free to wander as fast as I wanted!  TBU said something about “It’s your birthday Charlie - the neighbours can’t complain if you wake them up today!” But I was really good and didn’t bark too much!

It all began like this …

I woke up just as the sun was starting to stream through the window. The back door was already open, and nobody was trying to put my leash on for my usual “first thing in the morning” business trip!

I headed straight for the pool yard just to check if that mystery dog had left his calling card again. He had!

So I made sure I left him a pee-mail so he knows this is My Yard, not his!

Then I headed around to “No Man’s Land” to check for any overnight intruders. I could smell something, but couldn’t quite figure out what it was …

… so I left a land-mine in the hope that whatever it was, would come back again tonight and get caught!

Then I climbed the steps to my observation deck so I could survey the rest of My Yard. It all looked secure, so I headed back inside to greet My Young Bi-Peds when they woke up.

It wasn’t long before they had to head off to school. I was sad to see them go ’cause I wanted them to play with me all day. Luckily HH was working from home today, so I had great company anyway!

Hang on, I forgot something. As you may know, I am not very keen on water or getting wet, so My Bi-Peds gave me a little pool all of my own so I could get used to the water, and have something cool to play in during the upcoming HOT summer days.

Wouldn’t you know it … I am the one they were worried about drowning in the Big Pool this summer … yet when I got to my new splash pool this morning (it only had a little bit of water in it) there was already something in it and it looked like it was drowning … so I didn’t have any choice … I had to jump in and try to rescue it really quickly!

It was only a witchetty grub (lolly) … but hey I didn’t know that!

At lunchtime, I found a present on the floor of the loungeroom. I didn’t know what it was, but I was good and waited until I was allowed to unwrap it …

This was something I had never had before. What a treat! Dried Kangaroo Tail … yes we do eat our National Emblems here in Australia !!

So I grabbed it and immediately took it outside so nobody else could have any! It was crunchy and tasted soooo gooooood!

When Moo, Pumpkin and Chook got home from school, I got another present.

I didn’t know if I was allowed to open it or not … so I asked first …

Then I ripped into the paper and found a Beef Bone Chew.

These things are great, so I took up my spot on the lounge and proceeded to enjoy!

 When it was time for tea, I got a bit of a suprise. I had a new food bowl and it was already full of food!  I wonder if it will be like that all the time?

I got a bit of a shock when I got to the bottom of the bowl … there was another dog staring back at me! He was a good looking dog too!  My old food bowl never had suprises like that in it!

Do you wanna see a quick movie of the first twelve months of my life? I can’t believe I was that small when I first met My Bi-Peds !!!

I had a great day for my first birthday. Thanks to everyone who left birthday wishes for me yesterday (well it was yesterday in my world anyway!) As a pup, when I was sitting all alone in the RSPCA before I was rescued, I never thought I would have so many wonderful friends!

I am feeling much better now. Thanks to everyone who sent lots and lots of pawsitive vibes, healing rotti-slobers, belly rubs, beagle healing vibes, AireZen and get well wishes.

I was lucky My Bi-Peds found it early and got it off me. I just felt a bit woozy, had a bit of a headache and no energy for a a day and a bit …. but now … I’m Back !!!

Just in time too I reckon, ’cause tomorrow is my birthday! It wouldn’t be right for me to feel sick on my birthday would it?

Guess what? I received some awards too! I know that helped me to get better quickly. Look, here they are …
